Design Feature: New Construction Airy Kitchen

One of our team’s favorite things to design for clients is New Construction! When it comes to a new home, it can be so overwhelming to face an unending amount of decisions. From choosing paint colors to floors and finishes, to light fixtures, to hardware… the number of decisions to make can feel endless! 

That’s where we step in! In this design feature, we are walking you through the process of creating this kitchen design for a new construction client–all the way from the initial inspiration, to the floor plan, to the final design! 

Step 1: The Questionnaire

All of our design clients begin their process with us by filling out an extensive questionnaire. This covers everything from their design style, stores they love to shop at, inspiration photos, and more! This is truly the starting point for all of our designs and helps us define what a client is looking for! This client defined their style as a mix of transitional, modern farmhouse, and coastal. 

Step 2: The Inspiration

We request a Pinterest board or at least 7 to 10 inspiration images to really get a feel for what our clients love! This client’s Pinterest board featured numerous kitchens that felt airy and warm. There was a mixture of light oak cabinetry and white cabinetry, with lots of gold accents and white countertops.

Step 3: The Details

In order to really begin the design process, we have to understand the space we’re working with. With some of our clients, that means submitting measurements and photos to the best of their ability. For new construction, we can easily look at the floor plan and blueprints to see what kind of space we’re working with!

Step 4: The Final Design

Combining all of that information, this is the design we came up with! The perfect mixture of tones, colors, and our client’s style! 

Step 5: The Execution

We provide our clients with a variety of shoppable links that fit within their design to choose from! We can design for just about any budget. For this client, we gave them options of both high price point finishes, and similar finishes at a more budget price point to choose from! Then, they simply choose the products that fit their wishes and voila, a kitchen is in the making! 

Working with new construction is extra special, because we get to choose everything from the cabinets, to the paint colors, to the fixtures, in order to really create a home our clients love. Because at the end of the day, that’s our goal, for you to love your home.
